Newsletter #8 - Scoping report submitted

Good evening everyone ,

This is just a quick e-mail to let you know that the scoping report has been submitted by EnergyCo to the Department of Planning.

The report is 257 pages. this is actually quite brief compared to other reports that have been submitted in relation to HVTL projects.

Here is the LINK to the report if you are interested.

NEXT STEPS:
Valley Alliance :
The committee is working through the document. We are not expecting anything new compared to the current announced route. We have a meeting with EnergyCo on 8 August to review :

  1. Aberbaldie TSR update

  2. Scoping report review

The TSR route is still being investigated. EnergyCo have committed to a full investigation of the suggested alternative route and have committed to changing the scoping report if their investigation finds that the TSR is superior.

If you have any questions for EnergyCo regarding the Scoping report please send them to me and I will raise them at the meeting on 8 August.

Members: Get ready , we will be asking you to write letters to Paul Scully, Minister for Planning. Submissions aren’t generally called for at the Scoping report stage. There is case law that impacted people’s submissions should be taken into account. You are all IMPACTED (in some way or another) . The submissions will have to address specific points in the scoping report and cannot just be a general objection to the project. For those that want to contribute and are unsure what to write we will provide you with a template once we have digested the report and worked out what to attack.

I will update you once we have more information. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me or any of the Valley Alliance committee members if you have any questions or concerns.

We will be holding another community meeting in the near future, DATE TO FOLLOW

Our advice remains the same as pre scoping report:

  • DO NOT let them onto your land

  • DO NOT take individual meetings . If you would like to meet with them please invite VA along. These meetings count as community consultation for EnergyCo, To date there has not been a worthwhile meeting that has provided any clear benefit to our community , while EnergyCo uses them as a datapoint to prove they are active in the community. Dont Help them!

  • DO NOT sign anything

We are stronger together and we will all need to play a part if we are going to be successful.
Thanks for keeping our community united!
Tim
